Julia Gottlieb, LMHC (she/her)
Julia believes that each person possesses the innate wisdom and capacity to uncover meaning and solutions within themselves and, ultimately, to heal. She views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative process, guided by each client’s internal wish for healing.
Her approach is relational, warm, and non-judgmental. Julia draws from a range of modalities, integrating person-centered, attachment-based, psychodynamic, emotionally focused, and somatic therapies as needed. She values humor as an essential part of the therapeutic process, believing laughter to be transformational, cathartic, and deeply connective. She works flexibly and intuitively, responding to each client’s unique needs in order to foster a space for genuine healing, growth, and self-understanding.
For many years, Julia has had the privilege of supporting young adults (18 and up) as they transition into adulthood—a life phase she feels profoundly connected to. She works with individuals and couples navigating attachment wounds, trauma, shame, self-worth, identity, chronic pain and illness, family and relationship challenges, bereavement, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and end-of-life concerns.
Together with her clients, Julia creates a safe and supportive space to explore hurt, shame, loss, and whatever else may emerge. This process of exploration and uncovering helps release old wounds and patterns, fosters trust in oneself, and empowers clients to define their own path forward.
Beyond her role as a therapist, Julia is a mother and a jazz singer. She enjoys laughing, hiking, dancing, reading, drinking tea, and knitting—practices that help her stay grounded, balanced, and connected.
It is an honor for Julia to walk alongside clients on their path toward healing, self-discovery, and meaning-making.
Julia offers therapy in a lovely, light-filled office in Housatonic, MA, as well as online via Zoom.
